Hetzner
Hetzner is a general purpose hosting provider suitable for resource intensive apps.
Setting up a Hetzner account is not anonymous (registration requires a name and address) and can be paid with a PayPal account.
Is Hetzner law enforcement-resistant?
While Hetzner retains the ability to cancel accounts for "good reason" (e.g. intellectual property violations, unlawful content), and there is no documented policy of legal non-compliance with data requests, we believe their non-US jurisdiction and business model makes them more resistant than comparable providers to US coercion.
How to use Hetzner
Hetzner offers a range of services, from managed apps/cloud servers to dedicated servers and domains. We recommend purchasing a bare metal server since physical isolation offers fewer affordances for surveillance, while cloud servers are a low-cost option.
We recommend using measures such as full disk encryption to keep your data private.
Hetzner is suitable for complex applications with high resource requirements. For their SLA, Hetzner claims: "we undertake to make economically reasonable efforts to achieve an annual average network availability of 99.9% at our data centers."
